With International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day just passed, it's the perfect time to reflect on the power of connection - between generations, between families, and within communities. These occasions celebrate the strength, resilience, and love of the women in our lives, from mothers and grandmothers to mentors and friends. And what better way to honour these relationships than through creativity?

At Co-Creative Connection we have witnessed the power of art to unite families. People of all ages are encouraged to work together, express themselves, and produce something alongside each other through our projects. In ways that words alone frequently can’t, these moments, whether it's a mother and child painting together on a community mural or generations sharing stories via art, strengthen ties!

The Ability of Creativity to Deepen Connections

Creativity with one another comes down to shared experience, teamwork, and presence. When families participate in our workshops or contribute to mural projects, alongside exploring their creativity, they’re making memories.

For kids, it's an opportunity to learn new knowledge from their siblings, parents, or grandparents. For parents, it's an opportunity to take a break and spend quality time with their kids, enjoying the creative process. Deeper connections are created by these times spent together, which also promote self-expression, confidence, and a feeling of community.

Creating Spaces for Women to Lead and Inspire

Many of our community art projects have been led by incredible women. Rose is the lead of all of the projects as well as artists, organisers, and community members who come together to take part and contribute. We at CCC are always empowering women, and we aim to employ women in a male-dominated industry. Art provides a platform for women to share their voices, tell their stories, and shape public spaces in ways that reflect their experiences and aspirations. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who bring people together, using creativity as a tool for change, inclusion, and empowerment.

Similarly, Mother’s Day is an opportunity to honour the nurturing figures in our lives - those who support us, guide us, and encourage us to embrace who we are. Through art, we’ve seen mothers and children connect in special ways, creating pieces that hold sentimental value and remind them of their shared journey.
